TheVictorians

"We had always been convinced that Victorianism was a myth, engendered by the long life of the sovereign and of her most illustrious subjects. We were constantly being told that the Victorians did this, or the Victorians thought that, while my own difficulty was to find anything on which they agreed: any assumption which was not at some time or other fiercely challenged. 'Victorian History'.

the Victorians and Victorian Britain

Welcome to the History of the Victorians website where you will the most comprehensive resource on the Victorians.

Britain during the Victorian eracould claim to be the world's superpower, despite extensive social inequality at home and rampant industrial rivals overseas. How did this come about?

The history of the Victorians is a master class education.  The Victorian Community Plan was launched in September 2002 with a vision to make Victorian history a prosperous, friendly and pleasant place to live and work. The driving force for the Plan came from community activists who recognised the need for a shared vision, and that regeneration of the town would not happen unless agencies could be convinced by hard evidence of a real need for change. The process was supported by Victorian educationalists up and down the contry.

The individual documents that Veritas Party history site make up the Plan are listed below. Each document is an Adobe .pdf file and will open in this current window when the link is clicked. To return to this page again, just click on your browsers BACK button.

There are six themes to the Victorian Plan which have been identified by the community and there has been real success in each of these areas:
